How to import a video from my video camera?

i have a panasonic NV-GS15 and no manual and i want to import the videos that are recorded on the mini dv casette to windows movie maker. how do i do that?
and can i go to a place where they can do it for me?

You can download a manual from Panasonic.

The Panasonic NV-GS15 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. You already know this.

It has a DV port. You will use a Firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link - all the same thing) cable connected to this 4-pin DV port on the camcorder to a firewire port on your computer.

You may need to add a firewire port to your computer. This is typically easy and cheap. Since we don't know what computer you have it is difficult to know for sure.

Once this connection is made, Windows MovieMaker will be able to capture the video and import it from the camcorder to the computer.

USB will not work. A USB to firewire adapter will not work.

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder鈥?
Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.
