Sony HVR-1000U or Panasonic AG-DVC20?

sony and panasonic each came out with a cheap "professional looking" camera with HD for filming weddings, sporting events, etc.

which is better?

if its worth paying more for the other (sony $1700, Panasonic $1300) or save some money and go cheaper.

i want HD and the best picture by-the-way...

If high definition is a requirement, then you answered your own question.

The Panasonic AG-DVC20 is standard definition only.

The Sony HVR-1000U does standard definition and high definition (1080i).
