My computer is not reconizing my panasonic dv camera. I know its not the firewire cable thats causing it.....?

so it must be the port on the back of the camera. does anyone know what might be casuing this, any tips or suggestions, and if i have to replace the port on the camera where shold i go to buy a new one.

-make sure you installed that disc that they give you
-make sure camera is on
-resart your computer
-try reconnecting things in different order, e.g. if you turned on camera first then connected it to computer and camera, then connect it to camera and computer and then turn it on
-try using a different program. if you are using the free one they gave you (motiondv studio, i think), switch to windows movie maker or the apple software, whichever you use.
-if none of this works, unplug the firewire and stuff, and unistall then reinstall the software they gave you, then try everything again
