I have a pentax k1000 camera and it is great but i would like a camera similar to it but digital.?

Ive got a cannon point and shoot but I would want something more like the rebel or something along those lines just don't know which are better and worse nothing to expensive a couple of hundred dollars would be good, but let me know of any camera that you know of. Thanks alot-Chris

If you want the Pentax digital camera that is destined to replace the K1000 as a student's camera, get the Pentax K100D. This isn't a $200 camera, but it is one of the cheapest digital cameras out there. You can get the camera (which has "shake reduction" built into the body), the 18-55 kit lens and a memory card for under $600.

I used to recommend the Pentax K110D as the best entry level dSLR, but I do not see it for sale at B&H Photo or Adorama. The entry level seems to now be the K100D. The only difference between these two cameras is that the K100D includes "shake reduction," which adds some expense to the camera.

You might be disappointed with non DSLR cameras. I also suggest sticking with Pentax and getting one of their digital SLRs.
