Can anyone suggest a good camera for me please?

I'm going to buy my first digital camera soon, and I need some suggestions. I've already looked at many cameras (I need it compact), and most have had a lot of features missing. I don't want it too expensive. I need manual control, at least over shutter speed and aperture. I found the Pentax Optio A30 to be a good decision, but I don't like it's looks that much. Is it good?

the new sony IS the way to go. I went to the sony site, to "contact us", emailed and asked them and they replied confirming that the Cyber-shot庐 W170 Digital Camera DSC-W170 has the features.
