MacBook Pro or a Windows Vista Laptop for a Student about to go to University? |
I know which one I'd choose - The MacBook - but this is to settle a dispute between a friend and I. PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE REASONABLE EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH OS's!!!!!! I don't intend to read a load of unjustified 'WINDOWS ROOLZ' rubbish, so dont post it. Anyway, the user would be a university student, using it to type essays, produce presentations (can be done in iLife I believe) and day to day life stuff such as importing photos and updating their iPod. Again, I myself would pick the Mac as I know what I can get out of it and how easily it can be done. So, which would you pick?? First of all - once you go Mac, you never go back. I believe it's that simple. The interface is so much more userfriendly, furthermore the Mac works right out of the box, and if there's any problems what so ever, it's easy to solve. If you had asked about mbp vs xp, it would be harder to decide - but I think that most would agree that Vista is not only a rip-off of Mac, but also rubbish. The only upsides about vista, is that smaller apps run fast - and on the downside; larger apps run slow. We're living in a Windows-world, but I do believe that it will change in a a few years. Good luck with the university... and the mbp ;) Not Vista! Everybody has problems with it - from registry flaws, to security leaks and things simply not working. Go with Mac OS X and make your life easy! You get iLife so you'll be able to do a whole range of things: http://www.apple.com/ilife/ You can also get OpenOffice (free) if you need to do other things like write documents and whatnot. Personally, I'd pick Linux but then thats me :) I would pick the MacBook. Windows Vista is a really glitchy operating system and it's not stable enough for many things. Mac OS X is a very stable and flexible operating system that will work great for many things. I'm normally a Windows person, but it's the truth. Windows Vista sucks ***. Nice visuals, but the performance is really shitty. I used Mac back in Junior High and it's a nice OS. Kinda hard to get used to when you've used Windows all your life, but other than that, it's nice. It's entirely up to you, you can stick to Windows and uninstall Vista then reinstall Windows XP if you have the installer disc. That would be the harder way to go, so it would be better to go with the MacBook. Go with Mac!!! Easier! Go with the Mac and load up XP using Parallels or Boot Camp. get one with xp sp2 not vista. more programs are available for windows than macs... MacBook Pro... Widnows Vista Is The Worst OS For Laptops... PS: From Experience, Vista Uses 1.4Ghz RAM @ idle... (that says It all) Hope I Helped :) |
