Does anyone know if someone has published a photo essay of Lesbians and our fathers? |
The relationship between us and our fathers can be pretty intense, particularly if one is a "butch" lesbian of color. Sometimes, in such relationships, there is a struggle of sorts as both parties may fight over the limited power allowed by the dominate society. Also, I see this in working class families. I was just wondering if anyone out there has explored this topic by way of images. that is a weird topic. They could call it Dykes and Dads. Hmmmm... u kno i dont think anyone has but its a very very good idea. If u find one, please let me know! If not, then i would love to take on the creative task. Is this sumthing u are working on? I am curious as to why you see this as a working class phenomena? I hope I can assist you further email me. Jasenibs@hotmail.com Just looking around, no, I can't find anything like that, which is sad . . . I think it would make an amazing study with very powerful images. But you can read up on the idea with the book "His Hands, His Tools, His Sex, His Dress: Lesbian Writers on Their Fathers" by Catherine Reid and Holly K. Iglesias (editors). Good luck finding something! |
