Help people!!! photo essay themes? |
i need a theme for my photo essay something like drunk driving no garbage or rec.... or nature I would choose something that you can relate to. What is something that you are passionate about (or that you feel any emotion towards)? That may be a good place to start. I did one called The Forgotten Girl. It was a series about people who have been forgotten - the homeless, the wallflowers, the ignored, the insane, etc. What hits close to home? Is there anything in your life that hits you emotionally? What issue do you feel strongly about? The strongest and best essays are things that you feel so strongly about, it evokes emotion when you picture it. Now, if you can capture that emotion in photographs, you've got a winner! Experience Photo essay of homeless and such are good. But depending on your age and skill it might be too much. And it has become kind of cliche. In general you can focus on the people of underclass and manual laborers. Ours is the society that focuses all attention on the Paris Hiltons of our time. So as a contrast people who make a living by sweat and tears are almost always good subject matter. ==== If you live in a city/state with lots of illegal immigrant workers, that is an option. Your life and surroundings limit your choices... What in your neighborhood calls to you and your camera. Take the photos and the theme will present itself to you. As I look at my photos; family life, holidays, children and grandchildren growing would be my themes.... If I were taking the photos this morning the theme would be a pasta salad in progress, step by step. Look at your life what may seem mundane and ordinary to you can look so new and interesting to other in photos. |
