Does anyone know how to go about making a photo essay???? |
I have to make a photo essay for one of my classes, on the American Dream. How do i go about doing that? PLEASE! Did your instructor show you some examples? You may find that doing a survey of your friends on what their American Dream is will give you some good ideas for at least one or two subjects. Then start shooting everything that surrounds your choice of subject until you have eight to twelve working photos to then edit (with your instructors help) them down to a five image presentation. You might have fun shooting some old things the depict the American Dream of the fifties or even before. That should get you started first think about what your point about the american dream is. then stage the photos or find examples of it that you can photograph. for instance if you were to say that wealth is the american dream take picitures of people im highclass areas. if you think the american dream is freedom.. maby take pictures of imigrants. maby its a combination. it always helps me to write out my ideas and draw thumbs of posible shots or perspectives. hope it helps your photos have to tell a story.....think of what most americans do....use a family...at work, play and school. Gordon Parks did that with his famous photo essay on people who worked in industrial settings all dirty with heavy equipment around ...then took photos of them all cleaned up at home with their families. |
