Does Obama market himself to college students the same way ALCOHOL markets themselves to college students?

If people can vote at age 15, Obama would go after them also. Truth is that the younger the person, the easier swayed than older. Why do you think military recruiters go after the younger ones?

"If you're going to attract a new group to your brand that has a chance of sticking over a lifetime, the college years are crucial," says Barry Glassner, sociology professor at University of Southern California.

The people who are voting for him are not 15, and they're not all in college. HE has strong support among all age groups, particularly in among people 40-59.

I am sure that there is a point here.

Since the beginning of time, the politicians have pandered to their constituency. Here is Florida, politicians appeal to the elderly. Jesse Jackson appeals to blacks. George Bush appeals to conservatives. And Obama appeals to young college graduates but also to women, blacks and even older college educated voters.

And yes, Happy Meals are indeed for children.

Well... Unlike alcohol consumption, political involvement is always a good thing. Getting young people to become involved in politics isn't a bad thing especially since we're going to be the ones who will have to reap what we sow in the next election. What Obama is doing is great (regardless of political affiliation) since young people are the least likely age group to vote. It would be best if everyone voted since that's what it means to be a real democracy.

All the candidates are "Marketed." Why are you singling out Obama.

Every candidate markets themselves to college students. They are young enough to not necessarily have formed a political identity, and educated enough to be likely to start earning major dollars in the near future. As people get older they get set in their ways. Try telling a 85 year old to vote for a different party some time.

Obama is no different from other candidates in going after the college crowd, except that he is younger than the other candidates, and therefore shares more in common with them, which tends to make him more accessible to these individuals.

Alcohol may also target the college crowd, but unlike alcohol, Obama does not promise sexual gratification, wild parties, and lots of friends to those who vote for him. Instead, he promises real political changes.

It doesn't matter. Most college kids will be too drunk/hung over to bother going to vote for Obama. Seniors will make a point of turning out to vote for Hillary...even if they have to hire a doctor to accompany them to the polling places. Hillary will win.
