You will need a scrip for colored contacts, even if they are not for vision correction. In the US, contacts are always considered medical devices regardless of the reason someone wants/needs them.

To get a scrip, you just need to go see an eye doctor for the routine eye exam, and a contact lens fitting. The fitting is really important...contacts that don't fit you properly can cause discomfort, eye infections, and worse in some cases. Also, with the colored contacts- if the contacts aren't the right size for your eyes, the colored part of the contact won't line up properly with the colored part of your eye (the iris), and it will look very fake and obvious.

I wear the Freshlook colored contacts, and I don't need vision correction...but I still had my eyes checked and got fitted for contacts...not everyone has the same size pupils, and to me it's just too big of a risk to take ordering contacts without knowing my correct measurements.

It's going to be very hard to find any blue colored contacts that look natural up close, considering you have brown eyes. When darker eyed people try to go lighter, it's almost always really obvious up close. You can usually see the pattern that is on the contact lenses.

If you are interested in trying out colored contacts, go see the eye doctor. Once you do your fitting and exam, the eye doctor will let you try out as many colors as you like while you're there. That will help you get a good idea of what colors work best for you before you start ordering them for yourself. If you order some without knowing whether or not you like the color, you will be stuck with them...contacts cannot be returned once the box has been opened in most cases, due to safety/health reasons.

Most doctors keep samples of the two cheaper brands of colored contacts, Acuvue 2 Colours and Freshlook. Each line has some really nice colors. There are lots more brands out there, but the prices do vary a lot. Online, Freshlook and Acuvue 2 Colours are around $30ish per box of 6 lenses, and then prices go up from there on into the $100s...depending on brand, how long the contacts are designed to be worn for before disposing of, etc.
