Every time I boot up my computer a photo gallery program tries to set up why is this and how can I get it off.

I have not tried to put photo gallery on my computer. I don't understand why this starts every time I boot up my computer.

Rather than using MSCONFIG, download AUTORUNS from the SysInternals page of Microsoft.com. It's much more comprehensive than MSCONFIG, allowing you to selectively include / exclude startup programs from your startup group as well as the Registry, plus it offers pretty straightforward control of Windows' services.

Well, what you can try to do is go to Run, (It should be in Accessories), and enter "msconfig" without the quotes. Then you go to setup and look for anything that relates to the photo gallery. Or, you can just disable all of them just to make sure.

I can not answer your question directly,but as i konw,Picasa makes it easy to protect your pictures by archiving them on a CD or DVD. Picsa (Picasa) even displays the pictures that have not yet been backed up to make absolutely sure you do not make mistakes with images that matter.you can download it from http://www.aawoman.net/picsa/

It's probably in your start up folder.

Go to Start>All Programs> Start Up and if it's in there just right click and remove it.

Also, you can check if it's in the start up tab under MSconfig.

Start>Run>type msconfig and hit enter. then go to the start up tab and see if that program is in the list for starting up with your computer.
