What career options do i have as a communications major? |
i am always changing my mind. Ifirst wanted to work for a magazine but dont like writing, then i wanted to own a photo gallery but dont know anything about selling..hmm... why not take an aptitude test? there's a free one here half way down the page http://gsx1.com/freeaptitest.htm... at the end they'll give you suggestions that might be helpful. hope it helped I have a major in communication. my first job out of college was in the marketing and communications department of an accounting society. my current job is in the PR and marketing department of a healthcare system. Other than PR/marketing, other areas directly related to your degree are advertising, graphic design (if you are familiar with the software), media (television, newspapers, radios, magazines). Outside of that, you could work in any job that requires any combination of good writing/editing skills, good speaking/presentation skills, good customer service, etc. what kind of careers do your classmates want to pursue? you should also meet with your academic adviser to discuss possible careers paths. And I would recommend doing an internship or two to get real-world experience. you will learn a lot about what you like and don't like that way. you should go to the career services office at your school. |
