Seamstress Help! Industrial/Rave Boot Covers? |
I am tryin to make the furry boot covers used in the cyber/industrial/rave scene, any help would be awesome. I have made two pairs and wasn't quite satisfied with them. I have a decent idea of how to make them, but it would involve two seams and I would prefer to just have the one seam in the back if possible, here's a link to a girl that makes them, but it's her business so she won't help me out. Any other seamstress have ideas? http://stores.ebay.co.uk/adjamiba-fluffi... 1) You owe me therapy...that link leads to some disturbing images of cottage cheese and spandex. 2) You can achieve one seam up the back by cutting a trapezoid out of random fur material (any fabric store has it), the top measuring the circumference of your calf or the highest point you want the cover to be on your leg, plus two inches to allow for seam (your pattern should look like this: http://reference.info.com/reference?qkw=... you can round bottom of trapezoid if you want bell shaped ground cover) 3) the bottom of the trapezoid will measure the circumference of your boot plus two inches 4) the seller you link to holds the boot covers up with a strip of neon elastic (1-1.5 inches in width), cut this the same length as your calf plus two inches and sew to top of matching part of the trapezoid you cut out of the furry material. so here's the steps 1. cut trapezoid from fur 2. cut length of elastic 3. sew elastic to top of fur trapezoid 4. sew back seam along longest parts of trapezoid 5. done hope that helps. Source(s): i make this stuff all the time and it's super easy...lol |
