Why Wont My Computer Open my .JPG files? |
Hi there. righty, i uploaded loads of snaps from my mem card to the computer and the majority opened ok (some didnt , and i got the error message "photo gallery cannot open this file, the file format is not supported") i moved all the files to my other drive (D:\) in order a quick re-format, and when i went to view my images after the format was done, i cannot view any of them! ive tried a few things and now ive hit a brick wall and im stumped. is there anyway i can get these open>?? help! for the techs out there im running Vista Home Premium If you are getting "file format is not supported" Well my guess is that they aren't JPG files. There are 2 things u can do. Rename the files.. If it says Pic1 rename it to Pic1.jpg make sure you actually type jpg. If that doesn't work heres something else you can do. Right click on one of the photos Go to Properties Click Open With and choose to open up the file with a different program.. u can click Open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Click that then say ok.. If that works choose me for best answer lol Source(s): Im a computer nerd You probably have not installed the original software you had. Try right clicking and selecting open with, this will give you a list of programmes, try Imaging or Microsoft Photo Editor. When you find the best to open them, you can repeat this and turn on the tick to always open with this program. While trying it turn the tick off. |
