How do I stop an error 1706 message from popping up? |
When I turn on my computer, right after the desktop is visible, the first thing I see is a windows installer pop up preparing installation. When I click cancel it comes back about two times. Then it shows a window titled "photo gallery." It will show info that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a cd-rom or other removeable disk that is not available. Insert the 'photo gallery' disk and click ok. Use source 1 shows up in the field at the bottom. I tried clicking this but got lost in all the possible choices, so I click cancel (having no disk). This prompts another window titled 'Photo gallery.' It contains a yellow triangle with an ! mark, saying "error 1706 no valid source could be found for product photo gallery. the windows installer can not continue, and there is an ok button. I click ok and this gets rid of it for a while until I try to open a picture or folder. Then I have to go through the whole process again. I have windows xp home edition which has "my pictures" Remove whatever is starting up from the windows start up menu. Go to Start->Run-> type in "msconfig". Go to the last tab "Startup" and clean up what's starting up with your computer. Just google each item to find out if it's a necessary component or not. Im having the exact same problem. Hesed, did you find a solution? Can anyone else help??? Im seriously frustrated and I have spent $$ on a computer guy and the problem continues. Im not sure, but it may be stemming from my HP 2610xi photosmart printer? another window is promt called (photo gallery i am an internet student |
