What is the html coding for creating clickable photo galleries for my website? I have no software to help.?


Hi. I have written the html for a simple website, starting from knowing nothing. Everything works fine except that I want a page of thumbnail pictures which can be clicked to enlarge and my computer keeps telling me it can't find the larger picture.

Here's a piece of the coding. The first hyperlink works fine and the 2nd says: the file cannot be found. Please check the location and try again. All of the photos are in the same file and I checked my spelling several times.

Well, if the files are all in the same directory, you've verified that the file names in the html EXACTLY match the file names in the folder, then perhaps it's a security issue? maybe the site doesn't have access to the images?

triple-check the file names though. they're easy to mess up.

do your thumbnails all work, and just the links don't?
Have you considered a WYSIWYG (whatyouseeiswhatyouget) web page creation program? No programming to mess with, just drag and drop your photos and thumbnail them. Frontpage is expensive, but you can get almost exactly the same thing for free: Nvu is a free, open-source web page builder and html editor. http://www.nvu.com/
