Bribing kids?

I love photography and this weekend I'm babysitting a 5 yr. old. She's adorable so of course I'm going to try to get some cute shots of her. The problem is--she doesn't really like when I take her picture because she wants me to constantly play with her.

How can I make it fun for her? And is it wrong to bribe her? And when I say "bribe" I don't mean "I'll give you a piece of candy for each nice picture we take"..I mean "We'll make cookies later if you let me take a few pictures."

I agree with the first one as well...I also LOVE taking pictures, I watch a 2, and 4 year old, and I'm always trying to get aht perfect picture...what i do is let the 4 year old dress up, beacuase he likes wearing "special clothes" and sometimes we will turn it in to a game, like i'll let him take my picture, if he'll let me take his picture, then we see who had the biggest smile, or the funniest face, or the saddest face...etc...or if you do bake cookies with her have your camera setting to the side, but still ready, and when she's doing something cute, just grab it and snap it and immediately set it back down that way she doesn't think you' re only wnating to take pictures.

actually what you need to do is tell her that you want to play dress up and that she's a famous movie star and she needs to take her picture because she's going to be on a famous magazine then you can actually take a picture take it to like a wal-mart or something or print shop on the computer and make a magazine cover and get a childrens book with a littel girl in it and stick "her" on the cover so she thinks she was really on a magazine. Or buy her a disposable camera and let her take the pictures and see what she comes up with, you would be surprised what kind of pics kids can take, my kids both LOVE to take pictures and they are better than mine most of the time! :)

Come on bribbing is the only way anyone can get me to do anything. It's not wrong and it works extreemly well. LOL : )

It's Ok to promise a little treat for good behavior sometimes. I like the baking cookies idea. Everyone does it sometimes.

I agree with Jenny. I think you should turn it into a dress up game. She is the movie star and you are the photographer taking her pictures.
