obviously an english.....
but english literature or language, or a combined course?
and is media studies worth it?
i would also do photography.
thanks for any help.
xx Any kind of English A level is appropriate, but English language or combined language and literature would probably be the best option, and media studies would also be relevant. Photography would be another good choice if you feel you would enjoy it. If you are good at languages, that would be useful if you like the idea of being a foreign correspondent. Or, if you enjoy science, then that could lead into scientific journalism. The same goes for music, art etc.
The best thing is to do the A levels you enjoy most and you will do best in. Have a look through all the uni prospectuses for courses in journalism (at www.ucas.co.uk) and see if they favour any particular subjects.
The other important thing is to get some work experience in journalism, so that you can put this on your UCAS personal statement.
If you don't want to go to Uni, then it's possible to get an A level trainee post with a newspaper.
You don't have to do a degree in journalism to be a journalist, but obviously it can help you get in. People go into journalism with degrees in all sorts of subjects. If you choose another subject, make sure you get involved with the uni newspaper/radio etc.
Check out the Prospects website for info on training etc.
