Does anyone know how many years of college is required? |
I want to go to college to take some photography courses. Does anyone know how many years is required? Also, what types of classes will be taken to get a degree for photography? Colleges don't necessarily work in years, but in credits. Most bachelor's degrees take 130 credits or more, at 15 -18 credits a semester, you could finish in 4 years, if you do summer and special session classes, you may be able to do it in three. Going to school and taking some photography courses is very different than becoming an art major and specializing in photography. Find some schools that are potential places you might go (given whatever limitations you have on location, budget, etc). Find out the curriculum for photography specific degree plans that are available. You'll be able to see what kinds of specific course as well as the general education requirements you'll be faced with if you enroll in a particular program. I'm sure you'll find similarities at various schools as you compare programs. i wouldnt worry about the years in college....and more focus on gettin the information, many jobs go by your portfolio so if you have taken your required years and have a crappy portfolio is isnt goin to matter anyway. The money and time is def worth having the knowledge! I don't know where you are located, but several colleges offer a BA degree in photography. University of Louisville is one, University of South Carolina is another. You can also get a BA in photojournalism from Missouri. Google is a good starting point. |
