Becoming A Photographer...?

I'd like to become a photographer... I'm a stay at home mom and wife with a somewhat busy lifestyle... Photography is one of my biggest passions and I would love to do something serious with it besides my every day snapping pictures whenever I can...

How can I go about getting things going? Where can I find a good school in my area? Are there courses I can do on line instead of having to find the time to go to an actual campus? Has anyone on here done this before... Do you have any pointers?

Thanks!

I would google 'online photography courses in XXXXXX' where the XXXXXX is your city or one nearby. Nearly always, with online courses you have to go to class to write exams, but maybe not. Try googling without the city name.

If you are in the UK this is the route !

Get along to a College offering Foundation in Art, Design and Technology. Some Universities have a Foundation Courses which they call Year Zero. Its the same as Foundation at College. The course is a year long.

The Foundation Course prepares you for the BA(Hons) Photography but you will also get exposure to all the other art disciplines such as Textiles, 3D, Graphic Design, Life Drawing etc. and you will build up a portfolio to take with you to your University interview.

The College and Year Zero are invaluable for everyone especially if it is a while since you were last in the education system.

Year Zero at a University means you'll have a head start on the applicants. Your place is virtually guaranteed.

Well, Dublin is a bit far but it's a very good place to take photos. Travel down to San Francisco if you want to travel less.
