Realistically, do you think i can into ucla?

9th-10th grade gpa: 3.87
11th grade 1st mp gpa: 4.21
all A's in non-AP courses except for a B+ in a one marking period social studies class, the course was split into two separate courses, i got an A in the other half
expecting A's or B's in AP physics and english, likely B+'s or A-'s, definitely will have A in AP calc
next year taking AP spanish, calc bc and maybe statistics
might take academic english, & social studies, will this hurt the admissions process, aside from gpa?
don't have real extracurriculars
how much do they matter?
i have interests of course, but they dont fit into 'extracurriculars'
i like photography a lot as well as cooking and have taken various courses in school, but no clubs like that are offered
i could maybe push for a little community service,
but to be honest, there's not gonna be much for that section of my application
sats are saturday
psat scores:
r. 630, m. 670, w. 720
how well do you think i need to do on sats do have a real good shot?
what's my chance?

Truthfully, I think you should get in as many clubs as you can and do as much community service as you can. You want to stand out as someone who can keep up their grades as well as be involved in things outside of school. SAT's are pretty important, but I think your essays are the most important. If you can write an exceptionally interesting and unique essay you will have a pretty good chance of getting in.

(BTW: LinB is definitely not a college admissions officer. Her grammar and punctuation would not look like that.)

yea

You have a pretty good chance but UCLA is very competitive. Their average GPA is a 4.14 (unweighted) and SAT range 1800-2130. PSAT scores don't weigh in your admission... that's only for National Merit. Extracurriculars don't matter as much as GPA and SATs, but it's nice to have SOMETHING. Push for a little community service... volunteer, etc. It will do more help than harm. And continue to keep the grades up since that is what is far more important than anything else.

i thnk you are fine. just study for the sats and dont stress about it.
The best thing to do is let them know you are interested EARLY.. i mean 11th grade, or NOW early. Ask them what you need....dont be shy... if that's where you wanna go, then go for it. You will get in....no problem.

I wouldn't say you're a shoe-in, but you've definitely got a good shot! Try to get involved in some community service. Extracurriculars can really make a difference. And try for those APs next year if you think you can make a good grade. The college credit will be invaluable and you don't want to look like you're slacking off your senior year.

Then just write a great essay, get some help with it if you can, and try to look your best on the application. That's about all you can do.

Good luck!!

i am a college admissions officer at a prestigious liberal arts college, and although your scores and grades are stellar, if another candidate had similar scores to yours, or was even a little below you in the GPA area, but they had extracurricular activities, i along with all other admissions officers i know would choose the other candidate.
the reason being is that, yes your GPA is high, but that is because you have not spent your time doing anything else while in high school. having a stellar academic history AND being involved with activities means that you are able to handle multitasking, which is what colleges look for. it shows that a student is really well rounded and able to handle a full course load, while maintaining other interests outside of school. its too late for you to do any volunteer work, colleges like to see that you have made a commitment to something for more than just a week. i am not saying that you will definitely not get in, but don't be surprised if you don't. good luck
