Which 35mm SLR to get? |
i am going to be taking a black and white photography course this semester and i need a 35mm SLR... i need help on deciding which one to get. i want something that is good and at the same time relatively cheap because this is a beginning class... i really don't know much about cameras and so i need help! The Pentax K1000 is considered to be the best student camera. Totally manual. You can take a lot of excellent pictures with a K1000 with a 50mm f1.7 lens. SLR = Single Lens Reflex Minoltas are built pretty solid: SRT-101, SRT-102, SRT-201, SRT-202. Sometimes, however, the light meter dies prematurely. These are all manual focus. I'm not as familiar with other types. If you want something new, 35mm SLR's are actually hard to find these days. There are a few Chinese models of new ones out there, typically designed to be compatible with someone else's lenses (Cannon, Minolta, etc.). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ might have something new. Look for a good used (under 15 years old) Nikon and Canon 35mm SLR on craigslist in a city near your. I recomend the Nikon FM 10 great camera and great price though there are other options. I am learning on an old N90 and well it's a great SLR you can find them used on line. Good Luck! Try a Nikon F301. It is already motorized except for rewind, I think. |
