Would I be able to live in NYC?

I'm currently a cosmetology student so of course, I'll be probably work as a hairstylist. My idea of an average apartment is basically something not too small but not too big..an apartment for a single person. I'm not much of a go-out-clubbing person so I'll most likely save a lot of money on that. Fast food doesn't tempt me but books and clothes do sometimes..haha. I'm planning on furthering my education in photography so my education will most likely be New York Institute of Photography. Anyway, I was wondering if there's any chance of survival for me in NYC. Any answers are appreciated.
:)

i've checked with NYIP and the total costs would be $998 for everything.
i don't mind living in a tiny apartment, i'm comfortable.

If you work for a very good salon, and if you have some money of your own to tide you over on a rainy day, you should be ok ... no problem, especially with your good outlook (more education, second profession )

You will HAVE to share an apt.
But if you can get into one of the better salons you might be Ok.
I would suggest living in Queens or Brooklyn & skipping Manhattan...

If you got a LOT of MONEY, then sure, you will be able to live there. The rent there is OUTRAGOUS!!!!!!!!!

Sure, if you don't mind roommates and having an uber small apartment. Otherwise, check out Queens.

as a building owner in new york let me give you a tip. i rent out a studio for $1.295.00 per month, this does not include utilities.

very expensive

why on gods green earth would you or anybody for that matter, want to live in NY... winters you freeze your ying yangs off, and in the summer, the humidity will take the curl out of your nose hair, like a minute ago.

yes it is perfect 4 u

save your money, get your resume established, and then move. unless you plan on having roommates and 2 jobs. i live in a small one bedroom in brooklyn and i'm paying $1200/month.
