...know any good ones? It can become very frustrating ... no feedback from an instructor or fellow students. Plenty of good ones here: xtrain.com has a great one. The nice thing is that you actually do get to give and receive feedback as well as ask questions. They have a bunch of free classes you can check out or the subscription gets you access to the rest of the classes on the site. I subscribe mostly for photoshop stuff but I'm starting to dig into photography as well. I suggest you take a class on site. It can be very overwhelming to learn about photography from just reading about it. You can usually find photography classes in rec centers, community colleges, photography studios, and camera stores.
