Confused about A levels, please help!?

I've been told that i should do accademic subjects and to choose 4. I don't want to do maths or sciences, they are not my best subjects and although i will probably get B's in them i hate them! I am definately taking art and english lit. Art is my best subject and I would like to make a coureer out of it, english something i enjoy and am good at. I have dropped languages. And stupidly didn't take history GCSE (because the course sounded s.hit). i am doing well at geography but don't really want to persue it further. I like the idea of media studies but people tell me it's a 'soft' subject and an A level in it wouldn't really do me any favours. Film studies sounds like a fun subject but would it matter that I don't really watch many films? i do graphics but don't want to take the A level as it has a lot of IT work which i'm not good at, it seems stupid to take photography when i've never really had an interest in it. i don't want to chose 2 a levels which i won't enjoy, please help me!

I can see that you like two courses: English and Arts. As you have dropped language courses, you have art as only one option.
I am sure that you like media studies and you can do good at it. However, you are avoiding this choice because "people" are saying that it is not good for you. You do not watch movies but many others do. Moreover, it is a glamor world and you will like it.
My advice to you is to go for media studies.
Our 6th form has an option where you can take an art and design AVCE which is a sort of extended A level and covers 3 subject choices altogether, but gains you a higher qualification. A lot of kids at our place who love art have chosen this and English Lit as their options. If you have this choice where you are its worth looking at.
Well it would depend on what you want to do at uni. If you want to do a career in media, then I shouldn't see why you want to take media studies as an A Level. But otherwise, find out what you want to do at University and do the subjects you require.
Depends on your course... I only took 3 A-levels, and have got a place at a top 20 university. Theyre not so bothered about the number of a-levels, but the overall result. Look up your course at the universities you are thinking of going to and they should give you an idea of the types of a-levels they are looking for. They may not tell you exactly, but at the very least if they say something like they want ABC or 320 points then that gives you an idea of how many to take, and possibly what
You have answered your own question you enjoy Art and English so there is two subjects for a start.
Media well who ever told you it was "soft" is wrong my daughter does Media in her second year now and it is not a walk in the park subject! It is an interesting subject with lots to it covering a variety of media. She has been on trips and one was a week away at a unni so do not listen to others.
She does pyscology along with her Art and Media she did do drama but dropped it for second year.
Art is not a walk in the park either in fact art gives her more homework than any other subject.
My advise do not listen to other people do what you love and enjoy because you are the one who has to do it for the next year or two.
Studying Media is not soft and has many career options people assume you want to act but it is all the background to what we read, here and watch is Steven Speilburgh poor? my daughter will be off to Unni next year to study it she loves it that much
You could do both English courses, so you'd then have art, eng land and eng lit. I did sociology, which I really enjoyed, but you have to be interested in it in the first place. Its all about society, and why poeple are the way that they are. For film studies, it would probably be best if you did watch more films, because the course will cover dofferent genres of film, but also why certain types of shots are used and that kind of thing. Have you considered something like theology,? Thats an academic subject. Obviously there are so many different things to take into account- I didn't take history A-Level bevause I really didn't like the teacher!
