How well does the Mac notebook perform? |
I'm going to have to get a computer in the next few months, and I don't know squat about computer brands, etc. I've heard a few good things about this Mac one and was wondering how it does. I need it for loads of different things. Like photography, film i like to make my own videos of my family. Gaming, I'm also going to be taking an online college course and will be doing alot of web design and game design stuff. I do alot on the net, how does it do with multiple windows up at once? I'm into alot of different stuff and need a computer that can keep it, and not constantly spaz out. Thanks peoples! If your doing media design, photography, film, web design than you can't go past a mac. I have used both mac & pc's. The only thing a mac does have issues with is gaming, you can't always play games on them, but a lot of the popular games are now being released on Mac so those issues are being overcome. Pc's are ok if your doing word processing and basic stuff, but otherwise get a mac. They honestly have the best programs for the types of jobs you listed that you want to do - and you really don't need to look further than the fact that the computer that is preferred by those in the media is a Mac - those who are doing video editing and stuff along those lines have used Mac for many years. Worth the money. You just descibed a Mac. Macs excel in media. From video production to web designing to any other type of visual/audio experience. I don't want to be your only deciding factor but... I have a PC and a MacBook Pro 17".... and the PC doesn't even compare. As for those people who say that macs are "incomplete," this is sadly untrue. Macs run games very well dispite many claims... and games are now being released that run on both windows AND Mac (I.E. ALL Blizzard company games are compatible with both). I rest my case. Good luck in making your choice! If you're planning to do gaming, photography and all that then I'd prefer you get a laptop probably HP because there are designed for work like this. . .a MAC notebook is cool, but it's just not complete enough I don't know why people insist that Macs are "incomplete" computers. I promise you that you won't regret getting a Mac. I had my own doubts when I switched from Windows last summer, but those doubts were quickly absolved once I started using my MacBook. Today I make use of all kinds of apps and utilities that make me more productive than I would have ever thought possible on any computer. From the sounds of the work you're describing, you're probably going to want to go with the MacBook Pro. It's much better for games and graphics-related work than the MacBook is. The MacBook's integrated graphics simply doesn't cut it for that kind of thing. You'll find that with an Intel Core 2 Duo at >2.0 GHz will be extremely snappy even with dozens of windows and apps running at once, and the Radeon X1600 graphics card will make this laptop amazing with graphics and games. You will likely have to use BootCamp (link in sources) to install Windows on the MacBook Pro for the games, but everything else you will be able to do within OS X. OS X is an extremely secure and stable OS as well. Our version of the blue screen of death are called "kernel panics", and I have gotten one out of this entire year I've had my MacBook and that's because I was stupidly messing around with the Terminal, not entirely sure what I was doing (I don't recommend that, hehe). Macs are woeful at games or any game design applications, they suck at rendering in 3D. Macs cannot use Directx so games have to be released for openGL in a "mac" version (usually several months after the PC/console version). Also apple's web broswer is a big diappointment but you can replace it wth mozilla firefox. |
