I'm 41 yrs old, currently unemployed after taking a leave of absence & am desparately trying to choose my next career move. I only attended secretarial school 20 yrs ago. I was miserable as a secretary all those years-stuck in a cubicle listening to dictation all day. I regret not furthering my education. Now I need to make a major change. I'm interested in pursuing several things but keep going in circles. I have a vocational counselor & have taken all the special inventory tests. Still at a loss. I want a creative job- makeup artistry or photography. I also want to work w/ animals, or to have some kind of job in tourism. I also want to work w/ babies. I'm good at the makeup (even got certified through basic esthetics course). But I live in Connecticut unfortunately & makeup oppty's are scarce. I think I have some talent in photography. That doesn't pay either. May pursue spa or hotel/tourism management, but can't afford huge college loans. I also want to try image consulting
I think that u should pursue a career that will make you personally satisfied. dont pick a career just because of the high salary. you probably made an adequate amount of money over the course of twenty years. Relax, be a make up artist or a photographer or whatever job where you will be the most happy. |
