How to get a job as a photographys assistant? |
im really intreseted in photography, i have just passed an Alevel art and design course and photography was one of the units. I would like to continue it as a career but no one seems to want to take me on as an assistant. Any suggestions!! Be the Photographer! That's what I did. I just started doing wedding photography for low income couples at cost. I had an "AS IS" contract to protect me. Eventually, I got real good at it and started doing regular weddings. Made a killing with little effort. I don't mean to brag, but I am talented at this stuff, as well as all sorts of art work and media. I have a darkroom, but actually, it is cheaper to have a photo-house do all of the proofs and developing, and touch-ups for you. So that's what I did. They supplied me with sample wedding albums, frames etc. Also, you can do group photos for schools and clubs. I have earned enough money to buy better equipment including flash umbrellas, cameras, light meters etc.... ----- Setup a meeting with the wedding couple, get a 50% deposit. Buy the film and batteries. Talk about the wedding and photo shoot times and such. Maybe a few pre-wedding pictures. Do some candid shots of the couple before the wedding, like in a park. Shoot the wedding. Setup a proof meeting afterwords and choose the pictures. Have the photo warehouse do your work. Get paid the remainder of the cash. Plus any extras that you charge 200% over for. They think it is a deal. |
