Outdoor photographers, where do you sell your photos? |
I am an amatuer photographer to say the least. I consider myself a good photographer, I just need more knowledge on the subject. I really want to go to the Art Institute of Houston and take the Photography course, this will happen in time. But for now I was wondering where I can sell my photos? The best place to begin selling your photos in my opinion is at a silent auction or something of the sorts for a non-profit organization. Habitat for Humanity just had one in our town last week for amateur photographers and jewelry makers. Of course that doesn't earn you any money, but it gets your name and talent out there in your community. Other options if you want the money for yourself are flea markets, and local magazines and newspapers. So you don't get discouraged, start small and expect small. Despite your talent, if you're names not well known, it's difficult to sell you photos to larger scale customers...but it doesn't hurt to send one off every now and then to TIME or Better Homes and Gardens magazine :-) sell them anywhere you can! try micro stock for now maybe, places like istockphoto.com training is the best way, a course or assisting a good pro for a while is the way read, borrow books learn study , light light light |
