Which shipping company is better from US to Canada?

I want to buy some photography equipment from the US and have it shipped to my home in Canada. Which company is better UPS or Fed Ex? I have heard that one is better than the other and I can't remember which one or why?

I would prefer to use regular mail parcel post but sometimes it is not an option!

Both will charge you a fee to get the package though customs.

I'd use the US Postal Service instead.

Just my dos centavos.

From personal experience, FedEx is better. They are sometimes late for priority shipping, but UPS has a problem with knocking on my door. I witnessed a UPS driver park outside of my apartment, sit in his truck for 3 minutes, and then leave. After 5 minutes, my tracking number was updated with "Customer was not available to sign". He never even came to my door. He eventually did this until I had to go pick the package up myself.

To the person below me: Please note I started my reply with the statement "From personal experience". As for your reply, I hate to point out that the same argument you make towards me could be made towards youself by saying "You cannot base your opinion on the fact that you are partial to UPS due to your father working there."

Don't take things personally.

I understand the previous answer but you can't base the entire company on one bad situation. I know it's hard not to but I always use UPS and I have not had a problem. I think it all depends on the driver not really the company. My dad has worked for UPS for 25 years so I'm kind of partial and I have a great UPS driver that delievers my neighborhood. So I would suggest UPS. Good luck!

I concur with Vienna. ALWAYS use good old US postal service if available. UPS' brokerage fees can be outrageous (like $30 on a $60 item..seriously) and I'm sure Fedex is no better. US Postal has a flat $5 fee I believe.
