How to translate a drawing to stereoscopic drawing pair?

I thought that transforming drawings into stereoscopic pairs would be easy... turn out is not. Unlike photography that it is relively easy (just need the correct equipment). Any thoughts?

I'm a member of the British Sterographic Society but I only take 3D slides.

If you contact the society on my link, they have books on the subject.

Try this one as well, I didn't realise it was the same questioner, I thought it funny to have two questions on 3D when I havn't seen one before.

Of course it's not easy. The drawing is on a 2D surface, which means however you turn the page and from whatever angle you look at it it stays a 2D object. A stereoscopic image relies on the difference in the image between your left and your right eye for the impression of depth, not shading or size of object and other techniques used in drawing. You would need to translate the 2D drawing into a 3D scene (e.g. with 3D computer modeling), then you could take 2 images which have about the right visual angle between them and use them as a stereo pair (if you have a 3D computer model making a stereogram is also easy).
I guess trying to redraw the images into a stereopair (near objects have to be more different than far objects) would be possible, but depending on the complexity of the drawing not realistic. If you just have a few geometric objects I don't doubt you can do it, but it it's e.g. a Hieronymus Bosch painting I wouldn't even try...

There's software on the www.cnet.com site. Search for 2D into 3D photos. Some software there is free.
