What's a good photography magazine?

I want one that offers lots of tips for a beginning photographer, and that is really helpful, but also one that inpires by showing lots of other photos. I don't really care for equipment reviews.

I personally am subscribed to Popular Photography and Outdoor Photographer, both great magazines. I find that Popular Photography is quite filled with equipment reviews, but it's often got a lot of nice quick tips for beginners.

Outdoor Photographer usually has more technique oriented stuff, and doesn't have many equipment reviews. You'll find longer and more in depth articles in that one. I'd say I definitely get more inspired by OP.

There's also British magazines to look into, if you don't mind the (unfortunately high) prices. I enjoy British photo magazines because for some reason they just seem to be filled with a lot more stuff-however, as I said, they're much more expensive. .A subscription can easily cost $60 and up. I've purchased a couple of Photography Monthly magazines, and I really enjoyed them, but their issue themes are sometimes hit and miss, and there's an entire section devoted to places to photograph in the U.K. which is quite useless to most American readers.

Hope that helps in some way. Source(s): Myself ;)

well i like the light impession and the natioanal geographic.
I subscribe to Popular Photography and Rangefinder. I like Popular Photography because I like reading about what's new in cameras and equipment, and they do have some tutorials and how-tos. Rangefinder is geared more toward the professional, but it also has some how-tos in it.

If you want to see the differences between Popular Photography and American Photo, go to www.popphoto.com and you can check out both magazines there. American Photo seems more geared toward the Photograph and the Photographer and Popular Photography seems more geared toward the gear involved and how-tos.

Good luck!
