If photography of area 51 is illegal, then what about google earth and all the pictures on yahoo image search. |
The sign states "photography is prohibited, it is unlawful to effect any photograph, film, map, drawing or any other graphic representation of this area or equipment within flying above this installization." (Google earth shows some radar looking thing between the runways, cars, trucks, people and about seven airplanes. Sattelite imagry on sites like yahoo & google are extremely old. Google your own house. Ours has a image of a garden and a pickup - dating somewhere around 7-10 years ago. We know this, because the garden has been grown over and the truck sold! They are not live images. So chances are that they are non-descript enought for the gov't to sign off on the use of the image. Obviously nothing you're described is very interesting... at least not for area 51 I agree with Scratchy_joe The projects got moved to a "non-existent" military base near tonopah NV - I know because I have family in Round Mountain at the Gold mine there - they see stuff happening in the sky all the time - and people you meet will tell you that their husbands/wife's work at that place that "isn't there". it is a maximum security area no pics or unauthorized access is allowed within a restricted distance of 1 mile around it Area 51 and all of its special projects was moved some time ago. Mountains of Nevada I believe They keep up the security at 51 to draw peoples attention there. ok ... you go first and lets see what happens :P I tried to go there on google earth. Once you get close enough the picture disappears, says image not available I believe. Happens on some miltary bases as well. Do you actually believe that the government would allow any photo of the area to be published on the web that wasnt sanitized? If there was anything classified visible you can bet that you wouldnt see it posted on the web. NORAD knows when any satellite that is in space is in a position to view sensitive sites. During those times anything that is sensitive is kept under cover. The no photography signs are a warning to those who may be in a position to photograph something that the government doesnt want released and to insure that persons who are apprehended with cameras know that they arent supposed to have them in the first place. The signage is meant for visitors on the ground. There are still prohibitions about satellite and aerial photos and google earth does use altered photos in some cases where national security may be justified or would face federal charges as their lawyers are well aware. |
