Will film photography be disappear? any one know a good web address to find dark room, paper etc equipment? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ I don't think it will and personally, I hope it won't. It's like vinyl. It's never really gone away. I find I have more control with film camera's than digital. I don't believe it will go away. Sure, digital is super popular, but it does not match the quality of film. there will always be people who love film, and companies will continue to sell it, i'm sure, for a very long time. =) As for your other question, I got my enlargers and dry press of of craigs list, i get my 35mm film off ebay (i buy it in lots, so i get tons of rolls for about fifty cents each..), and i get my 120mm film, darkroom chemicals, photo paper, and other darkroom-related supplies from freestylephoto. Good luck with your photography! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/ http://photography.listings.ebay.com/fil... http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_main.ph... You might go to B&H or Adorama sites, they have plenty of supplies. NO FILM WILL NOT DISAPPEAR It will soon die out. Ive already sold all my film bodies. Its too expensive now and too much hastle to get the stuff to do it now. Besides, i can do anything on digital that i could do on film and more, its just a matter of learning new tools is all. Plus its cheaper, less waste, and less room. I do alot of nature photos and work in the feild on trips that may last 15 days plus living out of a canoe and backpack, or even just hiking. Id never be able to come back with the type of stuff i do with film. Just takes way to much room and is way too heavy. Id come back with 80 pounds of camera gear alone including my film and everything else (usally about 50-60 rolls for a 10 day trip) and get maybe 100-150 really good shots. Now i can take 50 pounds of stuff, come back with 300 rolls worth of 36 exp. film in shots, and get sometimes 400+ great shots. That and a cd lasts longer than film, and the quality stuff? Ya, if your shooting an 8x10 negative, its going to cost a whole lot of money to get digital equilivent. But if your only shooting 36mm. 120mm, or even most medium to large format 3x4 even, you can get just as good quality out of a digital camera. Using the same lenses, youl get the same effects. As to finding stuff for film, good luck. Best bet is still Ebay or direct order. I still do some 35mm work and its hard enough to get good film. It may take me 2 weeks in order just to have the camera store get me the film that i use, standard Illford, when it used to be their common stock. Paper, the companies just arent making it anymore. Kodak doesnt make anything really anymore, esp for B+W, illford limits it to essiantially Glossy, pearl or matte in limitid sizes. Face it folks, its not out there anymore really. BBut still man, ebay is the best bet and just look for peple selling off stuff that they dont use anymore, or labs chaning over, or even camera stores changing over. |
