What is the best photography equipment to buy for an amateur?? |
My friend's birthday is comeing up and she has always wanted to be a photographer but could never aforde the equipment so I saved up with all of our friends and are gunna buy her a nice new set. A great beginner digital SLR is the Canon digital rebel XT, with an 8 MP chip, fully automatic modes, semi-automatic modes, and full manual mode. Also, Nikon makes the D40, both around the same price, from $500. Those cameras are for people who are serious amateurs, someone who will use them a lot as both are an investment. But, they are two of the best cameras for the money. Then there is the lens to consider, which are sometimes included in a kit like the ever versatile 18-55mm standard zoom. Not a very fast lens, but a good starter lens. If a DSLR is a bit too expensive you can always go with a Pro-sumer "wannabe SLR" which look similar, offer similar features, but do not use interchangeable lenses. They have a fixed zoom lens usually 5x or better and from what I know of them they work extremely well. The Canon powershot A710 IS is half the price of the SLR's, has a 7.1 MP chip and offers 6x optical zoom with image stabilization which is awesome for shooting indoors with a slow shutter speed. I would recommend the Canon powershot because it is cost effective, at $250-$300, gets very high ratings, needs less accessories, and has automatic and manual controls. So if your friend just wants to snap a quick photo, he/she can and when a more artistic approach is needed, theres always the manual mode. How much money do you and your friends have to spend? You can use both links I posted to compare other cameras, I just gave what I thought to be good ones. Good luck.
