17 year old got into minor fender bender...now has to pay $910?

OKAY i got into a minor fender bender with some guys car that was a rental mini cooper, it was literally 2 scratch marks, but since it has to be replaced because its plastic, hes charging me 910 dollars to replace the whole bumper section. as you can imagine im pretty stressed, my parents are making me pay for ALL of it myslef and i work a little coffee shop place 8 dollars an hour...im still in highschool.

MY MAIN QUESTION is: what is there to do that can make me some extra money on the side...like recycling cans? bake sale maybe? side photography jobs? IM JUST STUCK! 910 is so much money and i still want to buy people christmas presents. someone help me out here...):

sincerely,
debt up to her eye balls.

There is absolutely no reason you should have to come up with the cash. The insurance on the car you were driving should pay for the damages to the other car. Your deductible amount has no bearing on the damage to the other person's car, it only comes into play on damage to your car.Do your parents think this will teach you some sort of lesson?. I think you have already stressed enough. You have not once denied your responsibility and that says a lot about your character. Too bad your parents don't see that side of you.

that's why you have insurance. aren't they covering it?

Give blood for money? Good luck

I noticed you didn't misspell one word and the grammar was pretty good considering the stress.... can you tutor kids for a fee?

Did you get 2 or 3 estimates? Where did that amount come from?

If it was a rental car tell the driver to kick rocks and let the insurance take care of it. if you give this guy a dime he wont report it and walk with your money. you must have insurance $500.00 deduct in cheaper

if this guy is making u pay $910 it might be better to report it to your insurance. I don't know what your deductible is, but I wouldn't imagine it to be that high.

You can take it to the shop with him and they can personally estimate the damage...this guy may just want to pocket $910 and will cover it with some nail polish for all you know.

I don't know about raising money via bake sale. I recommend going in for an estimate with the guy.

omg just buy them the plastic part its like 5 buck............dont u have insurance young lady!!!!!!??????

what is your insurance deductible? $1000? If its lower, some of it should be covered by insurance, if it was claimed.

next, you know the model, year, make, hunt around through auto part outlets and online and try to find the bumper cheaper.

since its a rental and not a personal, call up your local high line car dealers and ask them who they use as a bumper and touch up paint company. call them and ask them too look at the damage. 95% of them should be able to fix the bumper that is on the car, in turn charging you no more than $300. Tell the rental place this is better as it keeps the original clips and parts of the car.

See what your insurance adjuster says before making any so called
'deal'.

Mostly everyone is right, you should check with your car insurance before paying this guy. That is if you have car insurance and I sure hope you do. By letting your insurance company deal with this you'll take the stress off yourself. That is what having car insurance is for. I know your parents are upset and they don't want to do anything about it financially but they should at least guide you on what is the right thing to do. Yes you were at fault but they shouldn't allow the other person to take advantage of you and the situation. So contact your car insurance company and go from there. If you don't have insurance all you can really do is come to an agreement when you can pay this person and make sure you have some type of adult supervision. Otherwise start selling things on EBay like your electronics, it may just help you out. Best of Luck to you Kid!

Where is YOUR insurance?????????????
