A great place to learn is at your public library. If you have one nearby, go check out photography books. The newer books would be better, but even in older books you can learn some techniques and about composing a photo, proper exposure, arranging people or framing up interesting shots. Also, if you have a friend that is in the business, see if you can accompany him/her on a few jobs and just snap some photos, while staying out of the way. Carry your camera with you. You never know when a photo opportunity will be around the next corner.

Best of luck,
A former photographer

how about asking your parents if its okay for you to take photography classes? there are some institutes and universities who offer them to teenagers. maybe they will let you take some classes. these classes are mostly one or two hours a week.

Mildura what a wonderful part of the world.

If your really rural it might be difficult. Are you near to any Tafts? if so they might do a night course or something? Otherwise community colleges? There are alot of good sites about, theres photography magazines or try a library for some books.

If you phone some retailers - camera shops - they might be able to point you in the right direction - try ringing Teds maybe.

hope theres something there to help

If it's digital photography you want to learn, there are many many online tutorials - just google 'digital photography tutorial'.

In my opinion, it's better to learn and experiment on your own to start with.

With digital cameras, it's very easy to figure out how everything works, because the photos are free, and you can see the results instantly.

Try playing around with aperture settings - see what it does to the depth of field. Try playing around with shutter speeds - what's the slowest shutter speed you need to eliminate camera shake on a 70mm lens... these kind of things.

Once you've figured out the basics, go to the net and learn some of the more complex techniques, and theory based stuff such as composition.

Then start learning how to use photoshop for tonal and colour correction, cropping, blemish removal etc.

Check the link below for some really good articles on some of the more complex techniques.

Just go out and have fun experimenting and good luck.

The internet has many wonderful resources.

www.betterphoto.com offers online course.

Google or Yahoo search any photo subject and you'll gets thousands of results.
