Photography??

I need to know a little bit of things about photography.Like.... the duties of being one, what schools you need to go to,volunteer opportunities, the description f the job, salary and average hours per week. Please don't give me a link to somewhere I need to know from someone whos had experience and knows what they're talking about.

There are (sadly) starving photographers. There are also millionaire photographers. It depends on you.
There are many fields in photography. What do you want to do? Photograph babies and beauties in a -mall or -mart studio? Glamour-studio? School photography? Weddings, events, news? War? Celebrity (PPRzzi)? Architectural from the ground and /or the air? Underwater- (there is an institute in Miami) Commercial-, Fashion-, Technical-, Forensic-, Medical-, Scientific-photography?
Most universities offer degrees in photography, there are specialized schools like Brooks Institute or Winona. There are correspondence schools as the NYIP, the New York Institute of Photography (nyip.com) since 1910 or so.
Duties depend on the work you are doing plus the integrity of being a professional which is something you respect. People come to you for images of themselves, their products, their loved ones, their events, often once in a lifetime and an image cannot be replaced by an excuse.
Salary depends on region, grade, experience, who you work for and what name you've made for yourself. It can vary from basic to 40.-/hr
Hours, if you're doing studio, pretty much standard business hours, weddings & events include evenings but depend on the event.
It is a very wide field with so many variables. Most $ is made if you go on your own but startup is long and very hard. And then most hours are spend in clients relations.
Why do you want to go into photography as a job? Do you have an absolute fascination with everything visual to the point of absurdity? That you must learn to control.
As the musician must have ear or hearing, the photographer must have the ability of "seeing" which is not perceiving light with the cornea of the eyes but the ability to capture the spirit of an instant in a still. Technique can be learned, feeling is not.
Do you have pictures somewhere? Show something.

It's a pretty vague question you've asked. Probably why noone has responded but I'll give it a try.

.... the duties of being one,
To Take Photos... duh..

what schools you need to go to,
Any schools in your area. Why schools? do you want to do senior portraits?

volunteer opportunities,
Any charity events in your area???

the description f the job,
Already covered this one - To take photos.

salary and average hours per week.
As much as you can get. Depends on how good you are. Not to be mean but if you don't have a clue about the questions you asked above then you probably will not make much since you obviously have no experience.

I have plenty of great links but since you asked for none, I'll give you none.
