Photography moneyyy? |
i love photography but i also want to make a lot of money. What is a fun photography job that pays a lot of money?? Travel Photography. You can get your travel expenses paid; either by a magazine / book publisher, or by deducting them from your taxes. You can also sell: travel guides, postcards, calendars, posters, coffee mugs, etc, with your images on them. Photos of: Ayers Rock, kangaroos, echidnas, The Sydney Opera House, Phillips Islands' fairy penguins, etc, can pay for your trip to Australia...and you will enjoy the sites, sounds, and people, you meet in Australia. Travel first class, on Qantas, and you may also be able to get some paparazzi shots of celebs who are travelling to / from Australia for movies / concerts. How's that for fun? Good travel photogs do make a lot of money, because they keep re-selling the same photos over, and over...to: magazines, newspapers, travel clubs, book publishers, calendar makers, airlines, hotels, etc. Use medium format film camera systems...like the Pentax 67, or Mamiya RB67. A few good panorama shots-from a FUJI 617 system-will always find you buyers. Wedding photographers and baby photographers do well. But in addition to still photo skills, you need to be able to put together great slideshows with background music on DVDs for your clients. Different photographers think different types of photograph are "fun". For example, many photographers will tell you that they hate the stress involved with the fast pased photography demanded at weddings. Others love it. the best advice I can give any photographer wanting to make any or a lot of money is that you better be willing to put as much effort into learning good business practices as you do into making photographs. Sadly 70% of my photography career goes to things other than holding a camera. if you want to make alot of money become a ceo of a large corporation If you are good at what you do, there are all kinds of opportunities to make good money. If you go into business for yourself the biggest issue becomes taking care of the benefits you would otherwise take for granted. Those expenses will cut into your profit lines. But there are jobs out there that will give you those benefits. You could always get a job in the media. All of these positions are highly competitive. So get your education completed and work on some mentorship with some active professionals. It's a whole lot of fun. But its still work. Galen Rowell is the only photographer that I have met personally that made a really good living at imaging. Odds are against you making a lot of money with photography. Of course, that also depends on what a "lot of money" means to you. The top 10% or 1% of photographers make $50,000 or more annually. The middle range makes around $20,000 to $30,000. The low 10% make $10,000 or less. The reason being, photographers come a dime a dozen, and most of them flood the market, thinking that it is easy. Because of this, their labor saturates the job market, making it nearly impossble for any one person to be really successful. It's hard, but can be done. As for "make a lot of money", like the majority of artist, photographers remain not so well off. This is why many have second jobs. I hear there is lots of money in brain surgery. You think they'll let me cut open a skull and mess around a bit? I think it'll be fun, don't you? It would be even funner if they actually paid me. You think...? |
