My interests include music (I play guitar/write songs), writing, photography, travel, & teaching. My degree is in cross-cultural studies. I'm looking for an adventure/escape. A six or nine month commitment would be perfect. Any suggestions?
I feel that newspaper or magazine journalism can offer the adventures you're looking for. If you can hook up with a publication that will send you out into the community to cover stories, that can be a wonderful job. You get to be outside the office, you get to meet all kinds of people, and if you're good at it, you can influence the people in your community with your writing. You also get to see, firsthand, new things, events, or changes in the community.
If you wish to travel even farther, try doing travel journalism.
