College Help? |
I know i probobly shouldent even be thinking about this because i just finished freshman year of highschool but it seems like all my friends and boyfriend and friends have their life planed out, and as for me I don't even know what im good at. I'm lucky if i get all B in my classes and i have NO idea what i want to do as my future job. My older brother just graduated highschool and he didn't seem to care at all and failed alot and now is going to a comunity College! and i love my brother and all but i don't want to end up like him i want to get a well payed job later in life and have a house and stuff but im so lost and everyday someone askes me "Well what are you going to do after highschool" and i don't know what to say! I like photography..But i mean only SOME photographs end up making good money..others end up living in a one room appartment with 3 other people and that would suck! anyways im super lost! anyone please help! first of all relax. you're way too stressed. you have 3 more years of hs plus all of college to figure out what you want to do with your life. as far as a college major or career i can only say this: very few people get to do what they love and be well paid for it. so the trick is to find something you like doing, that you're good at maybe, that will allow you to do the things you love. i love photography but didn't want to be a starving artist (like you said). so i went into teaching because it allowed me time to pursue my photography on my own terms. take an active interest in all your classes. you never know which one you'll like or are good at until you really go all out and give it a try. explore different careers. see what it takes to become a pro in that field: how much school, salary, work schedule, vacation time. and see which one suits your personality best. but mainly, just relax. enjoy hs while you have the chance. take your studies seriously but don't let it stress you to the point of insanity. Source(s): another lost soul You have a few years yet hun, relax and just concentrate on doing well in High School, your grades will open up options for you as far as where you are eligible to go to school. Once you know where you are eligible to go to college, you can explore what programs they offer. It is during your high school years that you develop a sense of what you are interested in becoming. You have plenty of time! Make sure you get good grades and you will be just fine. Without those, your options are much more restricted. Good luck. Criminal Justice Graduate you have plenty of time to think about college. Just focus on a couple of things that you would like to do narrow it down to one and the others you can do as a hobby. My suggestion would be to decide and start it right after you finish high school so you can start your career while you are young and won't have to worry about it when you get older. ( nurse anesthetic) Well I didn't know where I wanted to go to school until nearly the end of my senior year. I kept my grades up just in case though, that's a good plan. Then when I finally went to my university it took me a whole semester to figure out a degree. I'm still not sure I want to get a career in that field. My point is, you can find happiness no matter how early you choose, in fact, later can be better because then you are not disapointed when things don't go quite the way you want them to. Just chill out and start exploring career oportunities and schools. Your guidance councilor can help you with that. |
