What do you guys think i should do? im torn between a few professions that i really like..?

I love being in front of people, and in school ive been really good w/ debate, my mom said that she would totally support me if i wanted to go study to be a lawyer. on the other hand, i am completely in love with capturing beautiful things...and im thinking that photography would be such an adventurous and fun job. on the OTHER hand, i love web designing, ever since i could get my hands on a computer, ive loved designing things. i recently designed my first website for a friends's business, and have gotten so many compliments on it, and people have told her that the website made them want to work with her.

so those are my options. actually, theres a few more, but im not minding them now. could someone please give me the pros and cons for each and advise me as to what you think i ought to look into pursuing? I'd just like y'alls take.

*please, no sarcasm.*

Thanks in advance,

C

If you like designing things, go with designing. It sounds like you love art (photography, designing > law). Keep in mind that lawyers have extremely tedious jobs, that don't involve a lot of debating. I'd say 80% ish of law work is writing documents etc. However with that being said law is always a good paying job (as long as you can work hard).

With both photography and designing, they are both arts and like most arts they involve some form of innate creativity. If you are good at it, you can always find a good job.

Just go with what you love to do.
Since you're still in high school (I looked on your profile page) you've got time--first bit of advice: don't box yourself in when you get to college. Try taking some different courses and talking to professors in different fields--and get them to introduce you to people actually working in those fields.

In college, you can probably combine your interest in photography with your love of design--a lot of arts departments offer programs that allow a lot of flexibiity.

For law--you don't, strictly speaking, study law as an undergraduate. What you do is a pre-law program--but this is very flexible. YOu want to take a few courses that are law related (e.g. Civil Rights/Liberties in a Political Science department)--but your best bet woul be to do that as a minor and major in sociology or history. But take at least one course in symbolic logic--you'll need the skills for taking the LSAT (its like the SAT only for law school).

But--you can sit wdown with your advisor when you get to college and work out how you can take a few courses to try different things before you make a final decision. The only thing you need to watch out for is not to overdo it--if you take too many scattered courses, you could find yourself having to do an extra semester to get alll the required courses for graduation.

Final bit of advice: whatever you end up deciding on--do what you enjoy. Forget the stuff you'll hear about "this field's hot" or " hey, there's lots of jobs in healthcare, or computers, or this orthat." If you do what you love, you'll do a good job--and that's the real key to success--not following the crowd (and more fun, too!).

Good luck! :)
I think becoming a lawyer would be a great ambition for anyone. If you love photography, and web design, do those on the side while you go to law school. It will alleviate some stress from school, and you can make money off of it.
You need to follow your heart. You can become a lawyer and web design on the competer as a extra job or for fun. You can also, go to your school counseler and there is a test on the internet that will hwlp you decide what field you would be best in. Good luck.
