Paying Photography Jobs for Beginners?

I'm very interested in freelance photography, or getting a job at a local studio. I'm a songleader at my church, but I volunteer, and need a career for my finances.

If anyone could show me a completely free freelance photography website where I could sell some of my pics, or sign up to take some for a company, would get my vote for a best answer.

Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely, Digory83

http://submit.shutterstock.com/... is simply the best that I have found; pictures have to be 4 MP to meet their submission guidelines. Also visit my 360 page for some ideas and links to other photographers. I found a freelance job on craigslist but due to circumstances beyond my control that I never really understood, it didn't happen, so I am somewhat skeptical now because that was my first client. If you need a full time job like I do, try getting a job at a local newspaper, it might even help to get one of your pictures published first before you apply for a job as a staff photographer. Set up a career interview with someone that is respected in the field, where you would like to work, you know, to gather information. If all else fails, get a job at a photo lab, or a print shop, or deliver the paper and work your way up the career ladder. I set goals for myself, like saving money for advertising and business cards now that I am a published photographer, while at the same time taking lots and lots of pictures.
check your local newspaper. lots of times they need freelance photos. better yet if you have a video camera you may be able to sell videos to the television stations.
You might look into http://www.deviantart.com
A basic account is free, and you can set up to sell prints there and get feedback on your work to help you improve.

I guess it kind of depends too on what kind of photography you do. I love fine art/glamour photography, but I do mainly commercial work. I get jobs through a graphics designer I know, but maybe you could put an ad locally for work.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/ is a good place to do that. It has free advertising in every major city.

Sorry I'm not much help here, but I'm just kind of starting out, too.
Hope some of that was useful. :-/
1. make sure you have enough equipt... 2 cameras, plenty of memory and power. and lighting.

2. Use you connections at church (network) to find freelance work to start a portfolio... family photos, a church directory, weddings, etc.

3.Get a book on marketing your freelance photohraphy... there are plenty on the market right now.

4. Take a class at a local trade/voctech school

5. keep a maera with you at all times and shoot, shoot, shoot.

6. contact ins. agencies to see if they use freelancers to take pictures of accident scenes or totaled cars

7 Freeweb.com is a sight you cans show your work and advertise it on your business cards.

8. Oh yea, have some business cards printed..
Try something like http://www.istockphoto.com or http://www.fotolia.com you can submit stock photos to them and get paid a certain amount when people download the picture (although you get more to sell exclusively to them I wouldn't do it, then you'll never be able to use that picture again on another site).
