Why would someone...? |
taking classes in something, in this case photography, not do their own homework and instead rely on the best guesses, intentional misguiding and just plain wrong answers given here to complete their assignments? Aren't photography classes the ones you take because you don't want to actually take REAL classes (and I say that as someone who too 4 years of them, lol)? Aren't they supposed to be relatively easy? More than that, if you are a person who hopes to BE a photographer sometime in the future, wouldn't you actually WANT to learn these things on your own? OR, am I just an old fart too out of touch with how these assignments are given, e.g. "Go out on the internet and find out xxxxxx, yyyyyyy, and zzzzzzz about photography?" Just curious, and I am serious. Is this how assignments are given or are you supposed to be doing your own research from books, magazines or other online resources? What never fails to amaze me is how, if I don't know the answer to a question here, it often takes me less than a minute to Google it and find the answer. I might also add that I am a currently a college student. Under my schools honor code, which every incoming freshman signs, using an unauthorized source on an assignment, as well as plagiarism, are both serious offense. At the very least, either one could cause the offender to fail the assignment. At the most extreme, the offender can fail the class or even be expelled for a repeat offense. I go to a very conservative Southern Baptist school, so perhaps this is more extreme than other institutions, however I happen to know that the very large public state university a few miles up the road has a similar policy in place. people are lazy and look for the easiest way out. That is a good question. I see it all the time. They want "mommy" (the Internet) to supply all the answers and then cannot understand it when they cannot perform under real life conditions. I have been a photographer for over forty years and I love assignments - thats what I do. It is also why I take a photo-art class from time to time just to hone my skills. Editorial, sports and glamour photographer Idle isn't it? I once had a person who telephoned my home number (in the yellow pages under artists); just to tell me that he had a friend who had just started an art class and had been given a project on Picasso to do. He asked if I knew the answers! (I did, but what was the point in asking me to do her project)? I don't think that the word library was in their head let alone the internet! What cheek! Why ? You are right in what you stated about getting the answers from somebody else and "they hope it is the best answer". I noticed that there is one person here that keeps asking real technical photo questions and they sound to me they are from an actual photo assignment / class. I won't mention any names here but "she" posts an awful lot of questions back to back and does not want anybody to give any rude answers. In the future I will have to let her questions go by because she needs to "learn" not me. Just my thoughts, Kevin Professional Photographer |
