What college would be best to major in photographing models? |
I want to photograph models... for example magazine covers of Vanity Fair, or pictures for America's next top model. What college in the east part of USA. Would I just major in photography or is their a specific area I would need to major in?? Please help!!! There are no subject specific schools. What you learn is how to use your camera's under ANY situation and lighting with extreme confidence. Before you can become a fashion photographer, wedding photographer, or any other type of photographer, you need to be a photographer. What does that mean? It means I know the same basic things that Ace, Antoni, DigitalDiva, Terisu, Dr. Sam and others know. That's where the photographer part comes in. It's the necessary basis for whatever you want to specialize in. Without it, you aren't going anywhere. Now, there are schools you can go to where the emphasis AFTER you learn the basics is a particular area. A school that teaches fashion design and has photography as a subject would be a good bet. And, when you get out of school, it will take you some time to get to the level of professional. There is a big difference with being able to do something with professional skill and being able to do it at a professional level and all that implies. Just start learning photography. At this point, it doesn't really matter where you go if the course is complete and competently taught. In the end, where you went to school isn't important. Photography is a very put up or shut up proposition. Your portfolio and hustle is what will get you your jobs and assignments. I wish you the best.
