Can you recommend a good photography magazine? |
I want to give a subscription as a gift, but don't know which one to choose. Suggestions and why it's a good one will be much appreciated! Shutterbug. Popular Photography. Outdoor Photography. Explain techniques on photo-taking. Explain techniques on computer programs to enhance/correct images, new equipment such as cameras and lenses and other related hardware, software. I like Practical Photography. It's a UK mag so it's a bit more expensive, but I like the articles regarding practical aspects of photography. Composition, shooting RAW,lighting, etc. They have a monthly feature I like called "what do you think" where they critique submitted photos. They have a pretty good web site too. I guess the first question to you is, do you want a "how-to and review" magazine or one that has stunning images that make the reader want to go out and shoot images? The magazine sites listed below are also sold on newsstands and can be received as a subscription. http://www.shutterbug.com/ http://www.pcphotomag.com/ http://www.digiphotomag.com/ http://www.popphoto.com/americanphoto/... http://www.amateurphotographer.com/... http://www.bandwmag.com/ http://www.photolife.com/ This isn't a magazine but there are some nice photos here. (and some not so nice ones... take the good with the bad) http://www.deviantart.com american photo Lenswork is a very good magazine. Go to your nearest bookstore and check out an issue. Its not just a collection of camera advertisements. As a gift, it would rank much higher than the camera ad fluff being passed off as photography magazines. It really is a photographers' magazine. |
