Is there a lot of math involved in the photography field ?

I really want to be a photographer , but some people say that you need tons of math , and I am not that great with math . Would a photography school want you , if you have a C average in your math classes, but I have A's and B's in all of my other classes, and some of them are advanced .So my question is , if you are terrible at math , could you make it as a photographer ?

It depends. The photographic field has always been technically linked to science and math, but that doesn't mean you have to travel down that technical road and can choose a more creative and less technical path.

However, I do recommend you get a sound fundamental knowledge of working math as the business aspects of photography are just as important as the creative ones to succeed in the field.

No, the math you will need will involve exposure values, aspect ratios, magnification, etc., and that should be fairly easy to handle.

The most technical side of photography is in the design of the equipment, understanding optics, diffraction, refraction, reflection and electronics etc etc. Yes there is some involved on the artitsic end, but from what I have seen of your work you have a good grasp of the use of the camera and it's settings.
Don't let the math put you off, it's not super complex and I'd be suprised if a photog school didn't accept you on that basis if you can maintain a C. Your portfolio will say far more than your math grade.

I don't think you would have to be a math-whiz. But you should know simple math. For example, shutter speed of 1/125 of a second is twice as "fast" as 1/60, or at f 2, the aperture lets in twice as much light as f 2.8, and so on.

(I don't like math either!)

Can you divide 32 by 6 and get 5 roughly? - thats manual flash.

Thats about hard as it gets for me. Annifur you will be fine, theres a bit of maths but its not rocket science.

Merry christmas, love your new images!
