How about stereo photography (3-D)? This is something that used to be popular at the turn of the century (early 1900's).

If folks are using digital cameras, it gives them the opportunity to use some of those "functions" to produce sepia / b&w that most folks never seem to use.

You can get an intro to the subject at http://taggart.glg.msu.edu/stereo/3dcame...

You can do some interesting things with it (besides having fun):
1) work with a teacher to take relevant 3-D photos to illustrate their lessons, especially field trips, and make them available to physically challenged students who might not be able to participate in the field trip

2) "change over time" scenes in the local community..could be seasonal, could be "before and after" shots of construction work / projects

Another interesting one might be getting low altitude aerial photos of the school or neighborhood. This could be done via kites or remote controlled model airplanes.

Info on kite photography can be found at http://www.geospectra.net/kite/basics/ba... with a cradle design at http://www.kaper.us/basics/CheapKap_layo...

for remote control model airplane aerial photography, see http://www.articlesbase.com/sports-and-f...

The neat thing about remote control model airplanes...your photo club gets to meet and collaborate with the model airplane folks...cross pollinating and networking are really great skills to develop.

OK Hope this helps. Best wishes.
