Taking good photos?

In my photography class we've been walking around the school taking pictures (e.g. of lockers, hallways, etc.) and mine are so horrible! Does anyone have any good picture-taking tips?

practice practice practice. get to know the camera. read the manual front to back and back to front. watch how others are taking the same picture and see if you are doing the same thing. If worse comes to worse ask your teacher for help. He/she may know more about the camera your using and can better direct you.

Digital camera: use 1M-pixel mode to take photo, ensure the camera has time to focus, then re-size the photo to 5M-pixel, then crop the best part down to make the perfect photo.

Gee - Sounds like when I was in High School.
I latter majored in Professional Photo.
It takes a while to establish a good eye - it was critique of prints in my day ... a few at a time .
Now with digital you can review thousands and millions compared to the dozen or so I did.
Join a photo group that intrests you and critique other work. Your eye will improve rapidly.
